This November, our Cultural Cuisine program is back! We’ll be eating Newari food, a subset of Nepalese cuisine. Whether you are a dedicated foodie, especially interested in one cuisine, or simply looking to make new friends, you are encouraged to join us for dinner!
We’re going to a restaurant called Newa Chhe in the heart of Sunnyside, Queens. It offers a variety of authentic dishes! Our dinner will be family-style, so everyone will be sharing. Our menu will consist of platters from their menu that include some of the following dishes:
- Momos: steamed filled dumpling, vegetarian, chicken and buffalo
- Alu aachar: pickled potatoes
- Chilli paneer: cubes of fried cheese tossed in spicy sauce
- Choila: Newari dish of spiced meat
- Sukuti: dried meat
- Sekuwa: marinated meat skewered, grilled over open flame
- Bhatmas Shadeko: soybean salad
- Kakra Aachar: cucumber salad with spices
- Golbeda Aachar: tomato chutney
