One To World Walk: Architecture Tour of the Upper East Side

Join us on this walking tour of the Upper East Side with glamorous landmarks such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Plaza Hotel, and Park Avenue. We will explore the urban design principles of this neighborhood with many stories to share and observe how NYC’s history is etched into its buildings!

Our guide, William Singer, AIA, is the Chief Plan Examiner for The City of New York Department of Buildings and an expert in designing and constructing large-scale public facilities. His major projects have included justice centers, transportation hubs, and cultural centers. Before joining the Department of Buildings, he was a partner at Gruzen Samton, an NYC & Virginia-based architecture, planning, interior design, and systems engineering firm. A Fulbright fellow (Slovenia, 1993-94), he holds a Master of Architecture degree from the School of Design at North Carolina State University and a Master of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2004, Singer received a City of New York Arts Commission Excellence in Design for the renovation design of El Museo Del Barrio.

In the event of rain, this program will take place one week later on November 21st.

Community Service: Help Supply Those in Need II

The holiday season is a time for kindness, generosity, and good deeds. Join your fellow international students to spend an evening distributing food, clothing, and personal care items to the homeless population in New York City. For the second time this month, we'll be partnering with the non-profit organization, Midnight Run, to offer New York's homeless personal goods and good will. The evening will start in One To World's office to assemble the bagged meals, then we'll head out into the city to meet Midnight Run staff to distribute the food. This is a great way to have conversations with and learn about the homeless residents of NYC in a safe and welcoming environment.
