The NYPL is the 2nd largest library in the U.S.\, only behind the Library of Congress. It holds nearly 56 million items. It was established in 1895 and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1965. \n  \nIn celebration of its 125th anniversary\, the NYPL calculated a list of its most checked out books: \n\nThe Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats\nThe Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss\n1984 by George Orwell\n\n  \nAt this program\, you will have the opportunity to take a private docent-led tour of the main building and to explore the Polonsky “Treasures” Exhibition.
