We will begin our day walking along the Hudson River and making our way up a moderately to slightly challenging (depending on experience) trek to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain. The walk will be in a wooded area and steep\, so please wear suitable outdoor shoes\, long pants\, and bring lots of water. \n  \nAfterwards\, we will explore the town of Garrison and all that is has to offer! From quaint antique shops\, cafes\, and a lovely waterfront\, it will be the perfect chance to see it all before heading back to the train station. \n  \nTicket will not include lunch or your train ticket. Before joining the Department of Buildings he was a partner at Gruzen Samton\, a NYC & Virginia-based architecture\, planning\, interior design and systems engineering firm. A Fulbright fellow (Slovenia\, 1993-94)\, he holds a Master of Architecture degree from the School of Design at North Carolina State University\, as well as a Master of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Its chef and owner\, Amrit Pal Singh\, opened the doors in October 2019. He is originally from Pathankot\, a city in the northern Indian state of Punjab. He pursued his formal culinary education in Australia\, before moving to New York to build his business and family. Angel originally opened with only vegetarian dishes\, but has since incorporated meat onto the menu. Inspectors from Michelin have given it critical acclaim\, granting Angel with “Bib Gourmand” status. \n  \nThere will be plenty to talk about while eating at Angel and getting to know their staff\, cuisine and working culture. SUMMARY:One To World Walk: Architecture Tour of the Upper East Side
DESCRIPTION:The Upper East Side neighborhood has gained much of its international fame from movies and TV shows like Gossip Girl and Sex & the City. It’s also home to glamorous landmarks such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, 998 Fifth Ave\, Park Avenue\, and the Cherokee Apartments that we will be exploring on our walk. Our guide will share many stories about how NYC’s history is etched into its buildings! \n  \nOur guide\, William Singer\, AIA\, is the Chief Plan Examiner for The City of New York Department of Buildings and an expert in designing and constructing large-scale public facilities. His major projects have included justice centers\, transportation hubs\, and cultural centers. Before joining the Department of Buildings\, he was a partner at Gruzen Samton\, an NYC & Virginia-based architecture\, planning\, interior design\, and systems engineering firm. A Fulbright fellow (Slovenia\, 1993-94)\, he holds a Master of Architecture degree from the School of Design at North Carolina State University and a Master of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
